Endurance II - Nearly New
Pairs well with
SILVER SUNRAY
First Launched: 2019
The sharp design of the Endurance II watch is built on the silver sunray vintage curved dial with blue and red accents. The numerals are overprinted 10 times to create a detailed depth and subtle domed effect on close inspection, outlined by a microfine key line of pure white. The surrounding split track design has been stylised with Super Lumi-Nova hour dot markers that link to the in-fill of the Farer syringe-style hour and minute hands.
NEARLY NEW - This watch is a “nearly new’ unit from our archive. As a result, it may have minor marks on the case. It has been carefully inspected and fully tested and comes with our full five-year movement guarantee.
FEATURES
Universal Case - The case is 39.5mm in diameter, with a 45mm lug-to-lug and a thickness of only 10.8mm, making it easy for anyone to wear.
Reliable Mechanics - The watch is powered by a Sellita SW200 movement. This automatic Swiss calibre comes with a 38-hour power reserve.
Night Light - The hands and markers are filled with luminous Super-LumiNova for supreme legibility in the dark.
Crystal Clear - The watch dial is protected by a domed box sapphire crystal, which has an internal anti-reflective coating. There is also a sapphire exhibition glass on the watch's rear.
STORY
Endurance was the three-mast vessel that carried Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew on their legendary Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. She was originally built to take tourists on ice cruises – at the time, she was the strongest wooden ship ever built, specifically designed for durability in harsh Antarctic conditions. However, the owners ran into financial difficulty and accepted a reduced offer from Shackleton because they supported his pioneering exploration – her name was changed to Endurance. In January 1915, on the last leg of her journey, Endurance became permanently stuck in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea. Famously, with Endurance sinking and after months of surviving on the pack ice, Shackleton led a small group of men to safety using a lifeboat and then rallied a rescue operation from South Georgia to save his remaining crew.
